After she came out with her tell-all confession about her gender preference on “The Buzz,” controversy still stalks international singer and Yahoo! Philippines OMG! Media Magnet Charice, whose mother, Raquel Pempengco, has finally broken her silence about issues surrounding her daughter.
In an interview published in “The Philippine Star” on Saturday, June 8, Raquel told entertainment editor Ricky Lo that her daughter no longer seems to be the child she raised and nurtured.

“She’s now like a stranger to me,” Raquel said.
Charice’s mom denied that she couldn’t accept her for what she has become. Raquel added that she only learned about her daughter’s sexual preference in 2010, when she (Raquel) was in the US.
That was the time she said Charice took her out of the team helping her in her career. The other ‘casualties,’ adds Raquel, were lawyer Michael Gurfinkel and Charice’s former manager Grace Mendoza (Glenn Aldueza, the Pempengcos’ kababayan from Cabuyao, Laguna).

Raquel also recalled that when Courtney Blooding, became Charice’s Personal Handler (PH), she (Raquel) came home to the Philippines and left the singer’s brother Carl behind. Charice and Courtney, adds Raquel, were inseparable.
Charice’s mom further releates that Carl, then 14, rushed back to the country because “iniiwanan siya ni Charice sa hotel ng dalawang araw at wala siyang makain.”
Raquel says she knows all about Charice’s personal relationship with Courtney, who forbid everyone in the Pempengco home to speak in Tagalog, when she and the international singer stayed in Cabuyao.
Raquel bared her wounded feelings some more
“Hindi man lang ako kinausap ng maayos ng sarili kong anak. Hindi kami ni Carl ang lumayo sa kanya, siya mismo ang lumayo sa amin.”
It’s been almost three years since mother and daughter have gotten in touch with each other.
Raquel also recalled feeling so hurt when Charice told her and Carl, “Sawa na ako sa pakikisama sa inyo!”
Yahoo! Philipines OMG! is still waiting for a reply from Charice’s camp regarding her side of the issue.
